I was born in a small town near Barcelona. I graduated as Linguist Philologist and later on as Speech Therapist at the University of Barcelona and I have been working in the deaf world more than 40 years; even before my deaf daughter was born. She is 34 years old and was implanted at 11 years old, she was recently reimplanted. I have as well a 12 year old nephew who wears bilateral cochlear implant.
I worked 10 years as speech therapist in a cochlear implant clinic doing rehabilitation to all ages; but the last 20 years I have been working as Director of the Spanish cochlear implant Federation AICE, whose I was a founding member.
I am an accessibility adviser for the national Spanish and regional government as well as the city hall of Barcelona. I worked on several accessibility projects like the Universal Forum of Cultures Barcelona 2004; law projects on integration and accessibility, regulation of captioning for the tv media, etc.
I organized several congress, symposiums, workshops, etc. regional, national and European level; in different topics: education, inclusion, accessibility, rehabilitation, deafness and cochlear implants; as well as participating as speaker in universities for professionals, parents, etc. in several European countries as well as Latin America.
